The October 2022 floods had an immense impact on community right across Greater Shepparton, as did the incredible power of community working together to provide support and assistance.
We want to hear about these amazing volunteer efforts from all areas of Greater Shepparton.
This is your opportunity to share any stories, photos and videos of your neighbours, friends or strangers who selflessly pitched in during the flood crisis.
Alternatively, simply use this space to say ‘thank you’ to those amazing volunteers who supported community when it needed it the most.
We may use your contributions to this page at the annual Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards Ceremony to be held in May 2023 to highlight the amazing volunteers in our community.
Guidelines
You can send us you message of thanks or appreciation to a group or an individual for their volunteer efforts during the October 2022 flood emergency.
By using the tool on this page, your message can take the form of:
- a written message;
- a photograph or artwork; and/or
- a link to a video hosted on a video sharing platform such as YouTube or Vimeo.
Here are some guidelines to follow when submitting messages of appreciation for the volunteers:
- Focus on the volunteer's actions: Highlight the specific actions they took that you appreciated during the emergency.
- Be concise: If you've got a great story to tell, please feel free to share it with us, however try to keep your message short and to the point. A few sentences that express your gratitude and appreciation will be more effective than a overly-thorough message.
- Keep it positive: The purpose of these messages is to express gratitude and appreciation for the volunteers' efforts. Please keep your message positive and avoid any negative or critical comments.
- Use appropriate language: Please use appropriate language and avoid any profanity or offensive language. Remember that these messages may be shared at a public ceremony as well as on this web page, so it's important to keep the language respectful and appropriate for all ages.
Overall, the goal of these guidelines is to ensure that all messages are respectful, appropriate, and focused on expressing gratitude and appreciation for the volunteers who helped during the flood emergency. By following these guidelines, we can create a positive and uplifting experience for everyone involved.
This is not a nomination form for the Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition Awards, however these messages may be collated and displayed at the upcoming Awards ceremony to highlight the amazing volunteers in our community.
If you would like to make a nomination for a 2023 Volunteer Recognition Award to recognise and thank an individual or a group who contributes their time and energy for the good of our community, or to learn more about the Awards, please visit the Awards webpage. Nominations close Monday 27 February 2023.
We'd love to hear your stories and messages of appreciation, but please consider the privacy of the people you mention in your entry.
It's important to respect people's privacy and not share their images without consent.
Avoid mentioning specific names photos or videos of volunteers or personal details of the people involved in the flood response and recovery efforts without first asking for their permission.
